Rosemary Crackers With Garlic Sour-Cream Dip
We sure love crackers in our house. They are great as a snack and it is easy to take them with us if we need to go somewhere in a hurry. The store bought crackers come pre-packaged and portioned, so I just grab them and off we go.
As delicious as they can be, store-bought crackers contain a lot of ingredients I do not even know, and as I try to feed my family with healthy and nutritious food, I decided to make my own crackers from scratch.
After doing little bit of research I found out that to make my own crackers is extremely easy and it does not take a lot of time to make them either. To make basic crackers you only need five ingredients. Yes, you read it right – five ingredients. Ingredients that you, I am certain have in your pantry right now. So why not to give it a go today and I am sure you won’t go back to the store-bought crackers anymore!
Start by weighting all dry ingredients – flour, salt and sugar. Then add them to a medium sized bowl. At this point if you want to add any additional flavours, then do it now. You can add rosemary, garlic, Himalayan salt, dill – the possibilities are endless and you can experiment what flavours you like the best.
Then to the bowl add couple tablespoons of olive oil and water. Mix all until combined. After the dough is mixed, transfer it onto a parchment paper. Parchment paper should be same size as your baking tray or cookie sheet, because you will need to transfer the dough with parchment paper on to it.
Sprinkle little bit of flour on the dough and with a help of rolling pin, roll it out as thinly as you can. With a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut into squares. Brush the dough squares with a little water and transfer the parchment paper with the dough on to the baking pan.
Place the pan in to pre-heated oven and bake the crackers for about 15 minutes or until golden in colour. When ready, let them cool before transferring to a plate. Enjoy!
